The coding region has been updated to represent an alternative 5' splicing pattern, which results in an extended N-terminus that is more supported by available conservation and protein data. The previous representation was based on the mRNA D42108.1, but this would be a nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD) candidate if the homology-supported upstream AUG start codon (strong Kozak signal) was used, and it is thus unlikely that translation would initiate from the annotated downstream AUG (weaker Kozak signal). There are no full-length mRNAs representing the updated transcript in human, but the updated 5' end is supported by the partial human ESTs DA193701.1 and DB284706.1, and by the full-length rat transcript D45920.1. |
