The coding region has been updated to represent an alternative splicing pattern, and to extend the N-terminus to one that is better supported by the available transcript data. The annotated translational start codon is specific to human, but it has a strong Kozak signal and is thus likely to be used. An alternative and better conserved start codon, which also has a strong Kozak signal, exists further downstream; initiation from that start codon would result in a protein that is 2 aa shorter at the N-terminus. No experimental evidence exists to indicate which start codon is preferentially used in vivo.
