Description3-hydroxyadipyl-CoA belongs to the class of organic compounds known as phenylalanine and derivatives. Phenylalanine and derivatives are compounds containing phenylalanine or a derivative thereof resulting from reaction of phenylalanine at the amino group or the carboxy group, or from the replacement of any hydrogen of glycine by a heteroatom. Thus, 3-hydroxyadipyl-CoA is considered to be a fatty ester lipid molecule. 3-hydroxyadipyl-CoA is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral. An acyl-CoA that results from formal condensation of the thiol group of coenzyme A with the 1-carboxy group of 3-hydroxyadipic acid.
