  • Acetylornithine aminotransferase catalyzes the following reaction, N2-acetyl-L-ornithine + 2-oxoglutarate = N-acetyl-L-glutamate 5-semialdehyde + L-glutamate. This gene is very well conserved in cyanobacteria and plants. In the diatom, it is upregulated under conditions of nitrate starvation.
