AmtB is a trimeric inner membrane protein. [More information is available at EcoGene: EG11821]. AmtB, a member of the Amt family of ammonium/ammonia transporters, is responsible for the bidirectional diffusion of ammonium across the membrane and is necessary for growth only at low ammonium concentrations.
