Cytosolic IMPDH2 (inosine-5'-monophosphate dehydrogenase 2) catalyzes the reaction of inosine 5'-monophosphate (IMP), NAD+ and H2O to form xanthosine 5'-monophosphate (XMP) and NADH + H+. Chicken IMPDH2 has been identified only as the inferred product of a cDNA clone; this reaction has been inferred from its better studied human counterpart.
