endosperm
A portion of plant tissue (portion of plant tissue) which is a maximal portion of nutritive plant tissue in a seed (seed).
In angiosperms the endosperm is usually triploid and formed after fertilization by the fusion of one gamete with the polar nucleus (polar nucleusgo); sometimes diploid or polyploid.
