Definition

A viral respiratory infection that is caused by the MERS coronavirus (MERS-CoV), which most often manifests with moderate to severe respiratory symptoms, including productive cough and shortness of breath, which can progress to pneumonia and acute respiratory distress syndrome. [from NCI]
