Variations in ploidy level and structural variations are common in the genomes of various potato species, potentially aiding in diversifying agronomic traits. Genomic sequencing data from twelve potato landraces of various ploidy levels was used to identify structural variation compared to the two currently available reference genomes, a double monoploid (DM1-3) potato genome and the genome of the diploid inbred clone of S. chacoense (M6).
