SRX17298372: whole genome sequencing and denovo assembly of Sardinella longiceps
1 ILLUMINA (Illumina HiSeq 2500) run: 386.5M spots, 115.9G bases, 43.3Gb downloads

Design: DNA was extracted from muscle tissue using phenol chloroform method. Sequencing library was prepared with NEBNext Ultra DNA Library Prep Kit for Illumina and sequenced using illumina HiSeq 2500 paired-end 150 base pair cycle.

Indian oil sardine, Sardinella longiceps is an important fishery resource of the Indian sub continent . It is also considered as a model organism for investigating the climate change and fishing impacts on the Indian ocean resources. S. longiceps is also a rich source of PUFA and cheap source of protein for the millions especially in developing countries like India. Genomic information in this species is vital to understand adaptive variation and selection patterns in pelagic fishes in view of the changing climate in the Indian ocean.
