Metabolite Identification
Common Name4-hydroxybenzoyl-CoA
Description4-hydroxybenzoyl-CoA belongs to the class of organic compounds known as alpha-hydrogen aldehydes. These are aldehydes with the general formula HC(H)(R)C(=O)H, where R is an organyl group. 4-hydroxybenzoyl-CoA has been detected, but not quantified in, several different foods, such as black walnuts (Juglans nigra), garden cresses (Lepidium sativum), chervils (Anthriscus cerefolium), red raspberries (Rubus idaeus), and persimmons (Diospyros). This could make 4-hydroxybenzoyl-CoA a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on 4-hydroxybenzoyl-CoA.
