Metabolite Identification
Common Name3-Carboxy-1-hydroxypropylthiamine diphosphate
Description3-Carboxy-1-hydroxypropyl-ThPP is an intermediate in Citrate cycle (TCA cycle). 3-Carboxy-1-hydroxypropyl-ThPP is the second to last step in the synthesis of Succinyl-CoA and is converted from 2-Oxoglutarate via the enzyme 2-oxoglutarate dehydrogenase E1 component (EC.1.2.4.2). It is then converted to S-Succinyldihydrolipoamide-E via the enzyme 2-oxoglutarate dehydrogenase E1 component (EC.1.2.4.2).

Enzymes

General function:
Involved in oxoglutarate dehydrogenase (succinyl-transferring) activity
Specific function:
The 2-oxoglutarate dehydrogenase complex catalyzes the overall conversion of 2-oxoglutarate to succinyl-CoA and CO(2). It contains multiple copies of three enzymatic components: 2-oxoglutarate dehydrogenase (E1), dihydrolipoamide succinyltransferase (E2) and lipoamide dehydrogenase (E3).
