Definition

Abnormally elevated quantiy of hydrogen measured by a hydrogen breath test (HBT). HBTs administer substrates such as glucose, lactulose, lactose and fructose and subsequently measure hydrogen exhaled in the breath using a gas chromatograph. [from HPO]
