Definition

Adenomyosis is characterized by the presence of endometrial glands and stroma within the myometrium. Abnormal uterine bleeding and dysmenorrhea are the most characteristic symptoms, occurring in approximately 65% of cases (Arnold et al., 1995). [from OMIM]
