Summary
Unlike the other potassium transporters, Kup transports Cs+ and Rb+ as well as K+ (Bossemeyer, 1989); this finding corrects an earlier report of Rb+ ion discrimination by Kup, from the same lab (Rhoads, 1977). [More information is available at EcoGene: EG11541]. Kup (TrkD) is involved in potassium ion uptake under hyper-osmotic stress at a low pH . [More information is available at EcoCyc: EG11541].
